Are are TVs really going to stop working in 2009?

In February of 2009 TV stations will be switching to a digital only TV signal and nearly all TVs made before 2004 will not work anymore. I understand this is a problem for most people because it will cause them to spend a lot money to purchase a new TV or join a cable service. For awhile this was the only option but recently another option that is much cheaper became available. Now we can buy digital tv converter boxes and simply hook them up to our old TV. The best thing is they only cost about $50 and the government is offering all consumers a $40 off coupon.
